Are Your Lithium-Ion Batteries Properly Stored? - Data Center Fire claims 32k servers

Contain the Damage with Americase Solutions

“With Kakao claiming 32,000 servers were involved, this may well be the industry's largest-ever data center fire disaster.” (Peter Judge, Data Center Dynamics)

The South Korean government has called for a joint investigation with top executives from two major internet companies and the owner of the data center following recent outages that impacted all sectors in the country.

Services such as KakaoTalk were brought down by fires recently, leading to lengthy service interruptions which hit people's daily lives, including those who use it heavily because they regard their communications infrastructure--or "practically national" system according to one official report-to be almost completely compromised without any quick solutions available right now.

The fire started in the battery room where batteries were stored before being shipped off for recycling purposes following incidents like this one that took place last year when flames broke out during the shipping process leaving eight people injured, including two firefighters, hurt very severely while eighteen others suffered minor injuries.

This is a prime example of how one seemingly innocent misstep in battery storage can become a devastating crisis for an entire country, damaging more than just your company’s industry reputation. Whether or not Kakao fully rebounds from this, let this serve as a reminder to maintain a strict review and analysis schedule to ensure that your battery storage, transportation, and disposal process remains compliant at all times.

Having an unbiased third-party perspective can often mean the difference between reducing your risk and eliminating risk. At CRS and our partner Americase, we are committed to finding safe solutions to battery transport and storage, ensuring that any risks are addressed. Schedule an introductory consultation with us today to discuss your needs and ensure that your chances of experiencing a Kakao-level crisis are eliminated.
